Penguin Update

You really should check out the recent blog post about penguin. It explains a lot about how webmasters got caught up in this google algorithm update, even if they didn’t intend to abuse the algorithm.

Falian from wickedfire did a webinar on how to avoid these issues when doing SEO, and most of it has to do with avoiding overoptimizing your anchor text.  He took the averages in anchor text from various top websites that had NO linkbuilding at all on the site. Stick to these averages and it should help you avoid Penguin problems in the future:

anchor text percentages (these are ONLY averages, but you can shoot for these percentages)
25% exact match keyword
11% partial match
25% generic text
40% domain name
